A defining chapter of Sarah’s career has been expanding recognition of women as founders, investors and owners of capital. Through Beyond The Billion and her broader public work, she helped demonstrate that broadening access to opportunity can be consistent with disciplined investment thinking and long-term value creation.

“Capital carries consequence. The question is not only where it is invested, but what it enables over time.”

- Sarah Chen-Spellings

Sarah Chen-Spellings is an investor and capital strategist focused on long-term value creation, innovation, and the stewardship of capital.

She previously co-founded and led Beyond The Billion, the world’s first and largest global consortium of venture funds dedicated to advancing women-founded companies. Over the course of the initiative, 122 participating funds deployed more than $1.04 billion into over 1,300 companies, with partner portfolios backing 16 women-led unicorns, including Canva and Airwallex.

Earlier in her career, Sarah was a corporate venture capitalist at a $13B publicly listed Asian conglomerate, where she helped build a venture arm from the ground up and invested in growth stage bio-based companies.

Today, her work centers on partnering with visionary founders and families to allocate capital with consequence. She is particularly passionate about what she calls ‘the rise of modern matriarchs’: women wielding their influence as investors, wealth owners, business builders, and stewards of family capital.

She also created and hosted Billion Dollar Moves, reaching an audience of approximately 10 million each month and featuring long-form conversations and convenings with billionaires, unicorn founders, and leading capital allocators.

Sarah is a recognized international media voice whose work has been featured in Fortune, Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Forbes. She is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, a King’s College London Distinguished Alumna, and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in Venture Capital. She holds an LL.B. (Hons.) from King’s College London.
